CONCERT
MODEL
This
guitar has been my "favorite" for many years now. The body is
based on classic guitar lines and curves, which gives it a wonderful sensuous
look. At the same time it is a bit larger, giving it the power that
modern steel string players desire. The volume of the body is very
close to that of the justly famous C.F. Martin "OM" model, although
the shape is distinctive. I designed this instrument specifically
with the fingerpicker in mind, and since my friend Leo Kottke played one
for many years, I have to believe that it hit the mark. This guitar also
works very well for voice accompaniment. The best descriptive word for
this instrument is "balanced." It has very good volume, even
tone, combining both warmth and brilliance, and is responsive over all
strings at all frets. This guitar can be had with a cutaway and I will
build it in a twelve fret neck version. (Go here
for more information)
This is the guitar which I built for each of my two children.
Same guitar, this time in mahogany. The remaining photos on this page
